It’s my birthday in a couple of weeks. I can’t say I really want for much, what with 2011 bringing me the best gift of all – my sweet bubba. BUT, that doesn’t mean a girl still can’t covet random items, and for me, homewares are often where my desires lie. I saw some lovely table lamps in an Early Settler/Recollections catalogue a few weeks ago and thought that one in particular might be perfect for the entry into our house.
I visited the Franga store today and enquired about the lamps I’d seen in the catalogue, as I could see vases and ginger jars in the pattern, but no lamps… turns out (surprise, surprise) that the design was wildly popular and they’d sold out. The lovely sales lady rang several stores around Melbourne (based on what was coming up on her computer) but in typical retail fashion, what was on her screen in terms of stock, was completely out of date. The last call uncovered 2 lamps (they are currently running a “2 for the price of 1″ deal) and they’ve been secured for me. Yay!
This is the style I’m getting my mitts on – very excited!
I have a thing for ginger jars and Asian-style pottery/design. What floats your boat?

Oh gorge! Very lovely indeed.
Homewares that do it for me: white things, crystal things, silver things, organic smooth shaped things like Bison Homewares, anything from Georg Jensen, florals and particularly chintz things (but I tend not to buy them so much), neutrals with a spalsh of colour, and wooden things. I am a fan of a good photo frame, a display piece, and little collections of things. I am also a rabid fan of The Blessed Sainted Peter’s of Kensington (where all of our Xmas gifts were sourced from this year) for all my homewares perving and drooling.
Will the birthday at least bring some vintage booze your way??
xx
Birthday… we are having a very quiet day, especially seeing as it falls on a Monday. Mum and Dad are coming down and taking me out to lunch. I’ve said to Mr S, that I’d be happy with a dessert date at 10x by Tractor on a Thursday night some time soon – we can leave Miss A with my MIL and pop around the corner for a nice dessert and a sticky wine. Not trying to be too ambitious and assume that she could last the distance of a whole 3 course meal without us, but one course seems reasonable!
That’s a lovely lamp Sass, it will look great in your place!
I love homewares too, but set me loose in a Lululemon store and I’d cause major damage! You know me … obsessed!
I have however just bought two mugs from a Dutch brand called Pip Studio, which I love. Very girly, but really cute. I want to buy a new bedding set from them but I’m worried it might be a bit too girly for the hubbie.
Enjoy your new lamps when you get them! x
Will have to check out Pip Studio – enabler!! Yes, the Lululemon obsession of yours is evident. All for a good cause though – you want to look good when you are working out!!
